In principle, a first person shooter game will be able to ‘load’ a digital gun and reproduce accurately the ballistics of a real gun.
In addition to recreation, Digital Arms is focusing on the legal aspects. Gun owners will be able to create their own NFTs, and these can, in principle, be traded. Digital Arms is intending to embrace this aspect of NFTs by providing a full suite of legal tools and services, including NFTs registration, NFTs custody, and KYC/AML.
Digital Arms’ initial focus will be on guns, but the company plans to offer NFTs related to other real-world products in the near future, such as cars, houses, and other consumer goods.

The NFTs are ultimately intended to be tradable. We envision an auction-like model in which the holder of a NFT could sell it, and the buyer could then use it in a game or digital mall.
So far, Digital Arms has created digital replicas of two real-world firearms: the Armatix iP1 and Colt Cobra. Both reproductions fire 1mm BBs, and the Cobra fires .22 BBs. Digital Arms has further developed the technology to create NFTs which will fire larger BBs or pellets.
For Digital Arms’ initial products, the NFTs will require a proprietary reader device, called an “adapter”, to be connected to the weapon. Digital Arms is currently developing an adapter that will work with AR15-style weapons, and the company is also working on a version that will not require the use of an external device.
Although Digital Arms envisions that NFTs will ultimately become a tradable commodity, the company has not yet developed any business models around the NFTs themselves. For example, Digital Arms does not plan on profiting directly from the sale of the NFTs themselves; instead, the company expects the adapters, or “accessories,” to sell for $30 or more.
Digital Arms is targeting its NFTs primarily to hobbyists, who will be able to open the weapons, adjust the internal mechanism and replace the BBs for larger projectiles. The company does not plan to create NFTs which fire projectiles capable of causing injury or death.
